BRITISH SHIP PIRATED. (FROM OUR CORRESIONDENT.)

HONG-KONG, MAY 28.

The British steamer Tean was seized by pirates, who came on board as passengers, while in Hoihow harbour, and taken to Bias Bay, where the booty was discharged. Two officers were taken ashore and held as hostages, but were later released.'

The only casualty was a pirate, whom his colleagues mistook for a member of the crew and shot dead.

After the Tean had reached Bias Bay a British destroyer appeared, and put a party ashore in pursuit of the pirates. The pirates had taken with them eight Chinese passengers, one of whom fell from a cliff and was found dead.

* The Tean is a steamer of 2,202 gross tonnage, owned by the China Navigation Company, and built at Greenock in 1904.
